The cross-island commute problems we take off your desk

A north to west staff run fails in the same few ways. Here is what each one costs you, and the mechanism we use to stop it.

Problem

Your workforce lives in the north and your plant sits in the far west, which is close to the longest commute the island can produce.

What we do: One coach runs the corridor directly on the BKE and the KJE or PIE. There is no transfer between rail lines and no feeder bus at the far end, so the crew arrives together.

Problem

By public transport the trip means two rail lines with a change, then a feeder bus into a Tuas or Jurong plot that sits well past the last stop.

What we do: We drive to the gate or the block number you give us. The pickup and drop-off points are written into the booking, not decided by the driver on the day.

Pain

Workers leave home before dawn to clock in on time, arrive tired, and the good ones leave for a job closer to home.

What we do: A direct coach gives most of that time back. The schedule is built backwards from your clock-in, so the crew boards later and still reaches the gate before the shift bell.

Pain

Six people miss a connection, the line starts short-handed, and you carry the idle time across the whole shift.

What we do: The crew travels on one vehicle, so they arrive as one group or not at all. One 45-seater carries up to 45 of them for SGD 100 a trip, and that figure is published on this page.

Frustration

You have already tried a transport allowance, and it went into pockets without fixing a single late clock-in.

What we do: A contract fixes the vehicle, the route, the times and the rate for its term. We send the assigned driver's name and number before the trip, so a late worker rings the driver instead of ringing you.

Frustration

You have tried booking rides trip by trip, and now finance cannot match a single receipt to a shift.

What we do: You get one monthly invoice under UEN 53379842J, priced on the route you agreed. Any extra run you book is charged from the same published rate card.

Fear

You are afraid the coach simply does not turn up one morning, a full shift misses the clock-in, and it is your name on the booking.

What we do: Singapore Bus Charter is licensed by the Land Transport Authority to operate private hire buses, and the driver's details reach you before the trip. If a vehicle is taken off the road at short notice, a partner operator with the same LTA licensing covers the run and you hear it from us first.

Fear

You are near the Causeway, and you worry an operator here treats a Singapore staff run as filler between cross-border jobs.

What we do: We operate within Singapore only and do not run cross-border trips at all, so your route is not competing with anything. Ask for our LTA licence number and check the vehicle yourself on the OneMotoring portal.

Where we collect in the north

Give us the blocks your crew lives near and we build the pickup loop around them, not around a public timetable.

Woodlands and Marsiling

The main collection area for the corridor. We pick up at housing blocks, at the interchange or at a single meeting point you nominate, whichever keeps the loop shortest.

Admiralty and Sembawang

Added to the same loop when your crew is spread across the north. One coach can make several stops before it turns onto the expressway.

Yishun and Khatib

Covered on the same run. Extra stops on a point-to-point booking add SGD 20 per stop, per vehicle, and they are waived entirely on hourly hire.

Kranji and Sungei Kadut

Useful when part of the workforce lives or works along the corridor rather than at either end of it.

The corridor we drive

North to west is a road journey, not a rail one. Here is how the run is put together.

🛣BKE then KJE or PIE

The coach leaves the north on the Bukit Timah Expressway and crosses to the west on the Kranji or Pan Island Expressway, so the trip is one continuous drive.

🚇No transfer, no feeder bus

The rail version of this journey needs a change between lines and a bus at the far end. The coach removes both.

🌅Built around your clock-in

Tell us the shift start and we work the pickup times backwards from it, allowing for the morning direction of traffic.

🌙The run home after the trains

Late shifts are set down at the blocks after the trains have stopped. Any journey touching 11pm to 7am carries SGD 20 per vehicle.

🔄Rotating and split shifts

One agreement can cover a morning coach and an evening coach for a roster that changes through the week.

🔨Shutdown and peak headcount

We add vehicles for the weeks when contractor numbers jump, then return to the standing route.

Woodlands to Jurong and Tuas route rates

Every rate is charged per vehicle, never per passenger. All-inclusive of driver, fuel, ERP and parking.

VehiclePoint to pointTwo way returnPer hour (4hr min)Four hour blockEight hour day

50-seater coachSGD 120SGD 240SGD 80SGD 320SGD 640

A monthly contract is not a list price. It is quoted on your route, your headcount and your shift times, then held for the term. Every figure above also appears on the pricing page.

The only four surcharges

Nothing else is added to a staff run. Each one is itemised in writing before you confirm.

SurchargeWhen it appliesAmount
MidnightAny journey touching 11pm to 7am, which covers most late shift drop-offsSGD 20 per vehicle
Public holidayA gazetted public holidaySGD 30 per vehicle
Extra stopEach stop added beyond the agreed route on a point to point booking. Waived on hourly hireSGD 20 per stop, per vehicle
Excess waitingBeyond 15 minutes free, charged per 15 minute blockSGD 15 per block

Hourly and monthly bookings carry no waiting charge, and hourly hire carries no extra stop charge either. We are not GST registered, so no tax is added to any of these figures.

One coach against forty separate commutes

Put forty people on the same journey and the sums stop being close. A 45-seater on the Woodlands to Tuas run is SGD 100 one way, or SGD 200 booked both ways. Split across a full coach that is a small figure per head, and it is the same figure whether the traffic is kind that morning or not.

The alternative is forty people making their own way across the island, each with a transfer and a feeder bus at the end. You cannot forecast that cost, because it is not really a transport cost. It shows up as late starts, as overtime to finish the shift, and as the people who eventually take a job nearer home.

A monthly contract turns the whole thing into one line. The route and the rate are agreed once and held for the term, and you get a single invoice under UEN 53379842J instead of a stack of claims.

A contract, or a single run

Both are ordinary bookings. The difference is only how often the coach comes.

Monthly contract

For a standing daily route. The vehicle, the pickup points, the times and the rate are fixed for the term, and one invoice covers the month.

Single run

For overtime nights, an audit visit or a one-off crew movement. Priced straight from the rate card above, so nothing is invented on the day.

Hourly hire

For a day where the coach needs to wait and move again. From SGD 50 an hour with a four-hour minimum, with no charge for extra stops and no waiting charge.

Mixed

A contract for the daily route, with extra journeys booked against the same account at the published rates whenever you need them.

What is in the price

The quoted figure is the figure. These are not extras.

👤The driver

Holding a Class 4 or 4A driving licence and a Bus Driver's Vocational Licence. Their name and number reach you before the trip.

Fuel

Included at every rate on this page, whatever the corridor traffic does on the day.

💰ERP and parking

The gantries on the BKE, KJE and PIE run are already in the rate, and so is parking at your site.

Air-conditioning and a belt on every seat

On all four vehicle sizes. The 45, 49 and 50-seaters also have reclining seats and an underfloor luggage hold.

📋One invoice under UEN 53379842J

We are not GST registered, so no tax is added to the figure you were quoted.
